NEW DELHI (espnstar.com) - According to unconfirmed reports, Sachin Tendulkar and pace bowler Zaheer Khan could be unavailable for the Bangladesh tri series.

The duo had been suffering from injuries even before the Indian Premier League kicked off.

It is believed that Tendulkar might be out for almost a month, which means he would miss out on the Asia Cup, beginning June 24.

It has also been learnt that Khan has aggravated his ankle injury, which forced him to stay away from international cricket for almost a year.

However, the no BCCI official has yet confirmed Khan's absence from the tri series.

“We’ve no such information. He has not written to us,” Niranjan Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, has said.

The secretary however denied reports that the Board would ask the selectors to go for a young team for the June 8-14 tour. The Dilip Vengsarkar-led committee will meet in Mumbai on May 30 to finalise the squads for the tri-series in Bangladesh and Asia Cup in Pakistan (June 24-July 26).

Meanwhile, the board is looking for a physiotherapis for the national team, which has been without a permanent physio since John Gloster quit after the Australia tour early this year. However, Shah said there would be no permanent physio anytime soon:

“We want to assess the new candidate before giving him a long term contract.”

The Indian team ws served by Paul Close from the National Cricket Academy for the three-Test home series against South Africa.

However, he will not be around in the Indian dressing room this time. The New Zealander has returned home for a surgery after suffering an injury.

“We cannot avail his services because he will not be back for at least for a month,” Shah said.
