Doctor’s family demands CBI probe

1qlfiRajesh Talwar’s family has demanded that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“The family has demanded a CBI probe into the double murder,” said Pinaki Misra, counsel for the defence.

Mishra said Talwar was being made a scapegoat and from Day one, there had been major lapses in Noida police’s investigation.

“We request the state government to intervene. We fear for his health. We want an impartial investigation,” Mishra said.

The lawyer claimed that the case came up before the court today at a time when a lawyers strike was on and “defence lawyers were not allowed to argue Talwar’s case”.

“Unfortunately, our plea for an adjournment of the case on account of the strike was disallowed and a three-day police custody was granted. We find this against all canon of natural and established justice,” Mishra said.

The Noida police should desist from any further questioning or investigations into the case, as they are compounding their errors, said the lawyer.

There were many shortcomings in the police probe into the twin murder and police did not even have any extraordinary evidence for seeking Talwar’s police custody, Mishra said.
