The Infosys techie who smothered his wife to death and then hanged himself did not commit the crime is a fit of rage. The murder and the suicide were executed in a carefully planned manner, said the city police.

The detailed and neatly composed suicide note revealed the working of a calm mind and a steady hand, they added.

Nothing suspicious

Amit Buddhiraja murdered his wife Rinku Sachdev after he reportedly heard her express her love for her colleague in a telephone conversation on Saturday. According to his landlord, the couple did not look agitated or disturbed when he saw them on the morning of Holi. Amit’s parents, who spoke to him the same morning, did not sense anything amiss either. Could it be possible that the techie made sure he gave away none of his suspicions or frustrations?

“I’m sure Amit had some plans. He was a perfectionist. He took time to do things. When I saw the death note, I realised that he had taken this decision a while ago. The note is neatly composed,” Anand Mallik, Amit’s uncle told MiD DAY.

Amit and Rinku had met through a matrimonial website. Amit reportedly claimed he felt very hurt when Rinku moved into a separate bedroom a few months after their marriage. “She used to close the door even when I was in the house with her and talk to her colleague. This was torture to me,” he reportedly wrote in his note.

In his note, Amit reportedly alleged that Rinku was involved in an affair with her colleague for nearly six months. “I had lakhs of dreams with her. But everything went off,” he reportedly wrote.

“He has written in great deal about how her murdered her. He has mentioned a person called Arvind in the note,” Bangalore (south) tahsildar V Boraiah.

“We are going to question the person with whom Rinku allegedly had an affair,” said joint commissioner (crime) Gopal Hosur.

Probe continues

The post-mortem report revealed that Amit and Rinku had shared a meal on the day of the murder-suicide. Doctors said the viscera showed traces of undigested food, which implied that the murder-suicide took place a couple of hours after they had eaten. There were no wounds on the bodies, which ruled out the possibility of violence or a struggle. Blood and food samples have been sent to the FSL for further tests
